How to prevent and minimize eye wrinkles

Wrinkles at the outer corner of the eye – often called crow’s feet – are usually the earliest wrinkles to appear on the face, they are the tiny lines radiating on the outer corners and under the eyes. The damage is usually from sun damage, squinting and often smoking as well. The skin around the eye area is delicate. Exposure over the years to the sun causes the skin to lose elasticity. As one squint, these wrinkles form and eventually become permanent as the collagen is diminished from the ultraviolet rays.

Smokers can develop these eye wrinkles earlier than those who don’t smoke. Think about it, as one takes that puff, they often squint their eyes to avoid the smokes irritating effects – not to mention how drying it is to the skin as well.

Steps to prevent and minimize crow’s feet:

I personally have been a victim of eye wrinkles and have used an eye cream faithfully for several years. I have noticed a remarkable difference around my eye area. I have tried all the products, you name it. What I found to be the best for me were the following tips and ingredients.

So breathe a sigh of relief…. Your crow’s feet don’t own you anymore.

Use peptide enriched moisturizer to lessen the wrinkles around this eye area. Use twice a day morning and night.

Be sure to use a sunscreen. Even while you are in a car driving, the damaging rays of the sun can penetrate the car window.

Use a gentle motion when washing your face. No tugging or pulling around the eyes.

Remove makeup with olive oil.

Avoid mineral oil and petroleum base products. It will only make your skin more dehydrated.  It gives one a false sense of moisture, not to mention that it is carcinogenic to the body.

Use an eye cream that has key ingredients needed for this delicate area.

Ingredients to look for are:

Peptides, Co Q10, Vitamins A, C and E

Why these anti aging ingredients work so well:

Peptides diminish the fine lines and wrinkles

Co- Q10 antioxidant that helps boost cellular activity. It will fortify the skin’s defenses against UV damage.

Vitamins A, C and E healing, improves texture and tone, promotes cellular renewal.

Aloe vera has remarkable healing properties that can draw and hold oxygen to the skin.

Almond and Grapeseed oil for hydrating without the oily residue. These natural oils are so easily penetrated into the skin. The eye area takes this moisture so well.

A More Aggressive Approach

Often my clients ask me what my thoughts are about Botox.

Truly Botox injections are a more aggressive approach which can be pricey, but works well for diminishing the signs of eye wrinkles. Note: Temporary in that it lasts for about 3 months and your eye wrinkles are back.

You need to find a doctor that is well trained in this procedure.

Even with Botox treatments you still need to moisturize and protect this delicate area.

Treat your eyes kindly, they are the windows to your soul.
